A Recreation Vehicle or RV is a home away from home. The RV Service Technician is trained to service and repair everything found in an RV except the engine. The opportunities for growth are truly endless and the skills acquired, whether technical or business, are completely transferrable.
If you enjoy variety in your work, have an aptitude for mechanical and electrical work and have a knack for troubleshooting and problem solving with creativity, you will love a career as a Recreation Vehicle Service Technician.
Recreation Vehicle Service Technicians work on motorhomes and towables: travel trailer, fifth wheel trailer, teardrop trailer, pop-up trailer, toy hauler, truck camper, destination trailer, hybrid trailer and park model. Within these vehicle types, they work on systems and components including: electrical components, plumbing, propane gas components, appliances, exterior and interior components, structural frames and towing systems.
High school curriculum have incorporated
career exploration and planning to better prepare students for today’s job market in the skilled trades sector.
To gain valuable hands-on experience and practical skills, pre-employment,
apprenticeship or co-op programs are available. Through an apprenticeship, students develop essentials skills, a work ethic, interest in learning, workplace discipline and gain experience while earning a wage.
