When your RV is sitting in storage for an extended period of time, it’s important to engage in key maintenance steps before your first road trip of the season. Read on for RV de-winterization advice!
Air Out Your RV
The time in storage can result in your RV’s air being stale. Open up doors, windows, cabinets, slide-outs, and awnings to get fresh air flowing into your rig. As you open things up, see if you notice any squeaky hinges. Get those fixed before your next trip where the sound would be a big annoyance.
Wash Your RV
The storage process can leave your RV looking less than ideal. Wash away the accumulation of dust and grime. The longer you leave the gunk on your rig, the harder it will be to wash later.
Check the Water System
Drain your freshwater tank. Then give it a good rinse. Refill the tank with clean water, then run the water pump. This will get the clean water back into the lines as well as flush out any leftover antifreeze.
Check the Fluid Levels
Inspect the levels of the brake fluids, windshield fluids, antifreeze/coolant fluids, and so on. If any fluids are low, top them off. If your RV has a generator, check the oil and filters.
